Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure an annual service for fire equipment at St Marys Marianhill Hospital. The service aims to ensure the proper maintenance, inspection, and recharge of various fire fighting devices to ensure safety and compliance with relevant standards.

Scope

The scope includes the comprehensive servicing of fire fighting equipment such as:

• 4.5Kg (STP) fire extinguishers
• 9Kg (STP) fire extinguishers
• 2Kg (CO2) fire extinguishers
• 2.5Kg (CO2) fire extinguishers
• Fire hose reels
• Fire hydrants

The service must be carried out in accordance with South African National Accreditation Systems (SANAS) standards, including recharge and full servicing of each item as specified.

Technical Requirements

• The service provider must be SANAS accredited with a valid certificate issued within the last 3 months.
• Provision of certified copies of SANS 1475 certificates (not older than 3 months).
• Active Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) certificate.
• Valid SARS tax clearance certificate for tendering.
• Workmen’s Compensation registration.
• Registration with the South African Qualification & Certification Committee (SAQCC) for technicians involved.
• Letter of good standing from the Department of Labour.
• If on-site servicing is required, the contractor must provide a mobile workshop approved by SABS, with recent certification.
• Use of permanent markers for all service labels.
• Notification and coordination with the Maintenance Manager and Safety Officer prior to uplift and return of equipment.

Skills Requirements

• Technicians must be registered and certified with SAQCC, demonstrating expertise in fire equipment servicing.
• The service provider must have qualified personnel capable of performing recharge, inspection, and maintenance in accordance with SANAS and SANS standards.
• Personnel must be able to coordinate effectively with hospital officials and adhere to safety and procedural protocols.
• Ability to operate and maintain a fully equipped mobile workshop if on-site servicing is required.
