APPOINTMENT OF A SERVICE PROVIDER TO PROVIDE OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROGRAMME FOR A PERIOD OF THREE (3) MONTHS

The primary objective of this tender is to establish a three (3) months strategic partnership with an experienced Occupational Health & Wellness (OH&W) service provider. The goal is to support and enhance SAFCOL’s health and wellness initiatives, contribute to risk mitigation, promote employee wellbeing, and align with the company's strategic goals and sustainability mandate.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

  • Conducting pre-employment, periodic, transfer, and exit medical examinations based on job risk profiles.
  • Monitoring employee exposure to occupational hazards (chemical, biological, physical, ergonomic, psychosocial).
  • Ensuring fitness for work and early detection of work-related illnesses through various tests (e.g., pressure test, glucose test, BMI, urine test, etc.).
  • Promoting awareness, prevention, and response to COVID-19 and other communicable diseases.
  • Screening, early detection, and referral of health issues.
  • Participating in safety meetings and safety discussions at various sites.
  • Inspecting First Aid kits and hygiene conditions regularly.
  • Providing health education on chronic disease prevention, personal hygiene, nutrition, and wellness.
  • Providing primary health care services for minor illnesses and injuries, including assessments and referrals.
  • Managing employees with chronic conditions, maintaining confidential registers, and monitoring disease control.
  • Supporting HIV/AIDS awareness, testing, and management programs.
  • Offering health, wellness, and lifestyle support, including psychosocial, emotional, workplace, substance abuse, and legal guidance.
  • Providing Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services accessible confidentially and voluntarily.

Technical Requirements

The service provider must demonstrate:

  • Relevant experience in Occupational Health & Wellness Program services, with at least five (5) years of experience.
  • Experience of the Occupational Medical Practitioner (OMP) with at least three (3) years in OH&W.
  • Qualifications of the OMP, including MBChB and registration with HPCSA.
  • Capability to deliver a comprehensive project plan covering all scope aspects, including mobile clinic services with valid registration documents and lease agreements if applicable.
  • Provision of fully equipped clinics and mobile units, with appropriate staffing (medical practitioners, nurses, administrators, cleaners).
  • Adherence to confidentiality, ethical standards, and legal compliance in all services.
  • Ability to produce detailed reports and monitor program effectiveness.

The successful bidder must possess:

  • Strong expertise in occupational health, wellness, and safety management.
  • Proven experience in implementing integrated health and wellness programs in dispersed operational environments.
  • Qualified occupational health professionals, including medical doctors and nurses, with relevant experience.
