Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced service provider to develop, customise, and conduct a comprehensive University Culture and Climate Assessment at Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT). The assessment aims to understand the current institutional culture, employee experience, leadership practices, engagement levels, and organisational climate. The insights gained will inform the development of a Culture Improvement Action Plan aligned with MUT’s strategic objectives, including IGNITE 2026–2030.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Developing and customising a university-specific Culture and Climate Survey instrument suitable for all employee categories.
• Designing the instrument to generate reliable, meaningful, and actionable data for decision-making.
• Conducting the assessment across all employee categories, including executive management, academic staff, and support staff.
• Providing analysis at institutional and demographic levels, where appropriate and lawful.
• Administering the survey via a secure, accessible platform ensuring confidentiality and voluntary participation.
• Conducting focus groups and/or structured interviews to supplement survey data and provide qualitative insights.
• Analyzing and interpreting both quantitative and qualitative data objectively.
• Preparing comprehensive reports and presentations of findings.
• Supporting the development of a practical Culture Improvement Action Plan aligned with MUT’s strategic goals and transformation priorities.

The project duration is expected to be 8 weeks, with the first 4 weeks dedicated to survey administration and focus groups, and the remaining 4 weeks for data analysis, reporting, and presentation.

Technical Requirements

• Design a culturally appropriate survey instrument for higher education employees.
• Ensure survey confidentiality, voluntary participation, and compliance with POPIA where applicable.
• Use a secure and accessible platform for survey administration.
• Conduct focus groups/interviews to deepen qualitative understanding.
• Perform evidence-based, objective analysis of collected data.
• Deliver detailed reports, presentations, and a Culture Improvement Action Plan.
• Complete the project within 8 weeks from appointment.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in conducting organisational culture, employee climate, engagement, HR diagnostics, or similar institutional assessments.
• Company profile demonstrating relevant experience, with at least three reference letters for similar projects.
• Key personnel with expertise in psychology, organisational culture assessments, and qualitative research methodologies.
• Certified professionals in conducting organisational and workplace climate surveys.
• Ability to develop and implement survey methodology, data analysis, and reporting strategies.
• Capacity to support the development of practical, strategic culture improvement plans.
