Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint an Architectural Technologist (draughtsperson) to produce design development and detailed drawings for the Madadeni Hospital laundry upgrade project, including the replacement of laundry equipment. The appointed professional will produce both soft and hard copies of the drawings for approval by the Health Infrastructure Approval Committee (HIAC).

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Producing detailed design drawings for the laundry upgrade project at Madadeni Hospital, Section 5, Newcastle.
• Providing both digital (PDF and AutoCAD or approved software) and hard copy drawings.
• Completing the design within a two-month period after appointment.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and specifications, including KwaZulu-Natal Province standards and national codes.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Design drawings must conform to the KwaZulu-Natal Province Standard Specification for Refrigeration and Air-conditioning & Ventilation Services, as well as relevant national standards (SANS, ISO, etc.).
• Designs must adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health policies, and local fire and building regulations.
• All work must be carried out in accordance with the KwaZulu-Natal Province Standard Specification for Refrigeration Services (M-RCFM Issue 1 1998) and other relevant specifications.
• Produce detailed, low-complexity project drawings for the laundry upgrade, including site-specific considerations.
• Designs should be submitted in both digital (PDF, AutoCAD) and hard copies for approval.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Registration with SACAP as a Professional Draughtsperson, with a minimum of 3 years post-registration experience.
• Availability of a qualified and registered SACAP Draughtsperson to undertake the project.
• Proven experience in producing detailed design drawings for similar projects, preferably within healthcare or related infrastructure sectors.
• Capacity to deliver the project within the specified two-month timeframe.
• Ability to comply with all technical, safety, and regulatory standards applicable to the project.
