Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure supply and delivery of aseptor bags of various sizes that meet specified standards and quality requirements. The goal is to ensure the hospital receives high-standard, compliant medical bags that adhere to relevant specifications, with particular emphasis on supporting companies owned at least 100% by Black Africans who are women.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply and delivery of different sizes of paper medical sterilization bags (sizes 3, 4, 5, 11, and 12) to Rietvlei Hospital in KwaZulu-Natal. The bags must conform to specific technical specifications, including dimensions, gusset sizes, printing requirements, and compliance with relevant standards (CKS 595, SANS 50868). The procurement involves multiple sizes, each with detailed specifications, and includes the requirement for packaging in boxes or bales of 1,000 bags.

Technical Requirements

• Compliance with the latest issue of CKS 595 (SANS 50868 Parts 1 and 3).
• Bag dimensions:
  • Size 3: 115 mm (width) x 190 mm (length), gusset 35 mm
  • Size 4: 125 mm x 260 mm, gusset 50 mm
  • Size 5: 125 mm x 230 mm, gusset 50 mm
  • Size 11: 290 mm x 445 mm, gusset 125 mm
  • Size 12: 330 mm x 560 mm, gusset 150 mm
• Gusset and bottom closure must meet specified standards.
• Printing requirements:
  • Front side: Do not use if wrapper or seal is damaged; indicator pattern/band; final indicator ink color.
  • Back side: Manufacturer's name/trademark, bag size, designation, batch number.
  • Additional printing on back: Date of autoclaving, signature of packer, expiry date.
• High standard quality assurance.
• Packaging: Bale/box of 1,000 bags in rigid cardboard boxes or bales.
• Samples are not required.
• Full compliance with specifications is mandatory; deviations will lead to disqualification.

Skills Requirements

Suppliers must demonstrate the ability to produce bags that meet technical specifications and standards, including:

• Manufacturing expertise in medical sterilization bags.
• Knowledge of compliance standards (CKS 595, SANS 50868).
• Quality assurance processes to ensure high-standard products.
• Ability to deliver in the specified packaging and quantities.
• Provision of proof of compliance and signed annexure A with quotation.
