Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure various sizes of paper steam sterilization bags that meet specified standards for use in Port Shepstone Hospital. The procurement aims to ensure the availability of sterile packaging materials that comply with health and safety standards, supporting effective sterilization processes within the hospital.

Scope

The scope includes the supply and delivery of paper sterilization bags in multiple sizes, with detailed specifications for dimensions, material, printing, and packaging. The bags are intended for medical steam sterilization, and the contract covers the supply of these items to Port Shepstone Hospital, including all associated documentation and compliance requirements.

Technical Requirements

• Bag dimensions:
  • Size 1020: 65mm (W) x 200mm (L) with 35mm gusset
  • Size 4: 125mm (W) x 260mm (L) with 50mm gusset
  • Size 11: 290mm (W) x 445mm (L) with 125mm gusset
• Material: Medical-grade paper suitable for steam sterilization, in white color.
• Printing:
  • Front: "Do not use if wrapper or seal is damaged"
  • Back: Manufacturer's name/trademark, bag size, batch number, contents, autoclaving date, signature of packer, expiry date
  • Indicator pattern/band with final color of indicator ink
• Packaging:
  • Size 1020: 1000 bags per box
  • Size 4: 1000 bags per box
  • Size 11: 500 bags per box
• Supply includes lot/batch number, manufacturing and expiry dates, and manufacturer contact details.
• Shelf life to be stated by bidder.
• Delivery to Port Shepstone Hospital during specified office hours, with no weekend or holiday deliveries.

Skills Requirements

• Compliance with technical specifications and standards (SABS/SANS certification or equivalent).
• Ability to provide detailed product documentation, including brochures, specifications, and data sheets.
• Provision of samples for evaluation, if required, within specified timeframes.
• Ability to meet delivery deadlines and provide necessary documentation for delivery and invoicing.
• Knowledge of sterilization packaging standards and hospital procurement procedures.
• Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including licensing and registration with health authorities (e.g., SAHPRA).
