Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver Below Knee Foam Covers for Transtibial Prostheses to the Orthopaedic Services of the Department of Health in KwaZulu-Natal. The aim is to procure high-quality foam covers that meet specified standards, ensuring patient safety and comfort, while adhering to procurement policies and regulations.

Scope

The scope includes the supply and delivery of 500 units of Below Knee Foam Covers for Transtibial Prostheses. The procurement covers the manufacturing, packaging, and transportation of the foam covers to the designated address at Wentworth Hospital, Durban. The contract is a once-off supply with a validity period of 90 days from the date of advertisement.

Technical Requirements

• Manufactured from closed cell, cross-linked expanded polyethylene foam.
• Shore hardness range: not less than 58 and not more than 70.
• Color: Beige.
• Length: between 48cm and 52cm.
• Width: between 14cm and 16cm.
• Drill hole diameter: between 30mm and 31mm.
• Foam should not be pre-shaped.
• Components must be individually packaged and labeled with the company name/logo.
• Supplied items must be of high quality, safe, and compliant with relevant standards.
• Samples must be provided for identification and compliance before the closing date.

Skills Requirements

Suppliers must demonstrate:

• Capability to manufacture foam covers that meet detailed specifications and quality standards.
• Experience in producing medical-grade foam components suitable for prosthetic applications.
