Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for lift maintenance and repair at Bhekulwandle, ensuring the lifts are operational, safe, and compliant with relevant standards. The scope includes once-off repair and maintenance work, with a focus on ensuring reliability and safety of the lift equipment at the specified site.

Scope

The scope of work involves:

• Provision of lift maintenance and repair services at Bhekulwandle.
• Attendance to lift repairs and servicing as required.
• Compliance with technical and safety standards specified by Transnet.
• Work to be conducted at Durban Container Terminal Pier 1, Bhekulwandle Building.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Provision of experienced technicians with valid Lifting Machinery Inspector (LMI) certification.
• Demonstrated experience with lift equipment service and repairs, supported by reference letters not older than 3 years.
• Warranty for workmanship (minimum months specified in the scope).
• Warranty for supplied components and materials.
• Compliance with CIDB grading requirements: Class of Works SI Grade 2 for lifts, escalators, and travellators.
• Adherence to safety and security clearance requirements, including security clearance for personnel if applicable.
• Provision of all necessary documentation, including proof of experience, technical certifications, and compliance certificates.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required for bidders include:

• Certified Lift Machinery Inspectors (LMI) with valid registration.
• Technical expertise in lift maintenance, repair, and servicing.
• Experience in handling lift equipment, including troubleshooting and fault rectification.
• Ability to provide warranty support and post-repair servicing.
• Knowledge of safety standards, legal compliance, and security protocols relevant to lift operations.
• Proficiency in electronic bid submission and documentation management.
