Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to select a qualified service provider to conduct exploration, drilling of a borehole, and installation of a hand pump at Klipplaatdrif Farm Settlement (Tresseng). The project aims to provide a sustainable water supply solution to the community, replacing current truck-based water delivery methods with a permanent infrastructure.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Conducting a ge hydrological survey and testing water quality according to SANS 241 standards.
• Drilling a borehole up to 100 meters depth using rotary air percussion method.
• Installing casing, gravel pack, and a hand pump with related fittings.
• Performing pump yield tests and recording water levels.
• Carrying out site preparation, including clearing vegetation and setting up the drilling site.
• Providing all auxiliary works, personnel, and equipment for the borehole construction.
• Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the project duration.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• The borehole must be drilled within the specified location (coordinates provided).
• Water quality testing must meet SANS 241 standards.
• The borehole construction must include casing, gravel pack, and sanitary seals.
• All drilling equipment and personnel must be competent, registered, and compliant with SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) standards.
• Safety plans, method statements, and risk assessments must be prepared and approved prior to commencement.
• Medical fitness and safety training are mandatory for all personnel working on site.
• All work must adhere to relevant legislation, including construction regulations and health and safety laws.

Skills and Experience Requirements

Proposals must demonstrate:

• Experience in borehole exploration and drilling, with at least two completed projects of similar scope and value.
• Competence of key personnel, including:
• Site Manager with at least 2 years of relevant experience in water exploration and drilling.
• Safety Officer with accredited training and at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Site Foreman with a minimum of 10 years of experience in exploration and borehole drilling.
• Provision of project references and client contact details for previous similar projects.
• Registration on the Central Supplier Database (CSD) and CIDB grading of at least 1SO/1CE/1ME.
• Capability to supply all necessary equipment, materials, and safety gear.
• Ability to comply with environmental, health, and safety standards, including SHE documentation and risk assessments.
