Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure supplies of bifocal plano surfaces, specifically surfaced bifocal lenses to +/- 9.00 diopters, for use in bifocal spectacles at McCord Provincial Eye Hospital. The aim is to ensure the availability of high-quality optical components that meet specified standards and specifications to support eye care services.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes:

• Supply of bifocal plano surfaces with surfaced bifocal lenses to +/- 9.00 diopters.
• Provision of lenses made from clear organic plastic (CR39).
• Delivery of the specified items to McCord Provincial Eye Hospital, KwaZulu-Natal.
• Compliance with detailed technical specifications, including size, material, and optical parameters.
• Adherence to procurement policies, including preference points and statutory requirements.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the bifocal plano surfaces include:

• Lens Material: Clear organic plastic lenses (CR39).
• Optical Parameters:
  • Sph: from PL to +/-6.00 diopters.
  • Cyl: from -0.25 to -6.00 diopters.
  • Add: up to 3.50 diopters (81%) for the lower segment.
  • Sph: +/- 6.25 to +/- 10.00 diopters.
  • Cyl: -0.25 to +/- 6.00 diopters.
  • Add: up to +3.00 diopters (13%).
• Size, colour, and other specifications as detailed in the annexed specification form.
• Compliance with South African National Standards (SANS) or equivalent standards.
• Delivery within the specified contract period (once-off).
