The primary objective is to secure a reliable, once-off supply of 360 units of Super 15 Degree surgical blades for use in cataract procedures at Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital. The procurement aligns with provincial health supply chain protocols, emphasizing quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and socio-economic transformation through preferential procurement.

Scope

The scope encompasses the complete supply, packaging, and delivery of 360 units to the hospital’s Surgical Stores/Main Theatre. The contract is structured as a single, non-recurring delivery. Suppliers must cover all transportation and handling costs, maintain firm pricing for a 90-day validity period, and ensure timely delivery within an agreed timeframe. Two physical product samples must accompany the bid submission on the closing date.

Technical Requirements

• Product: Super 15 Degree Stab Knife Blades
• Specifications: 15-degree size, blue/pink colour coding, plastic handle with integrated cutting base, engineered specifically for port creation in ophthalmic surgery
• Quality Standards: Must comply with SABS/SANS specifications, bear legible manufacturing and expiry dates, and be supplied brand new and unused
• Shelf Life: Delivered goods must retain a minimum of six months' validity post-delivery; expired or near-expiry stock will be rejected
• Samples: Two unopened samples required on the submission deadline; failure to provide samples results in automatic disqualification

• Warranty & Inspection Rights: A 12-month warranty applies from delivery acceptance. The hospital retains unconditional inspection rights, with non-compliant goods rejected and returned at the supplier’s cost.
