Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure white body bags of various sizes for use at Port Shepstone Hospital, ensuring they meet specified quality and safety standards. The procurement aims to ensure the hospital has adequate supplies of body bags that are durable, water-resistant, and suitable for handling deceased persons, in compliance with relevant standards and specifications.

Scope

The scope includes the supply and delivery of various sizes of white body bags manufactured from polypropylene (biodegradable plastic), with specific specifications for material thickness, size, features such as zippers, handles, ties, absorbent pads, and labels. The procurement covers the entire process from quotation submission, evaluation, to delivery at Port Shepstone Hospital, including all associated documentation and certification requirements.

Technical Requirements

• Manufactured from virgin white biodegradable polypropylene water-resistant and bodily fluid resistant material.
• Material thickness: 150 microns for infant sizes, 180 microns for larger sizes.
• Color: White.
• Sizes:
  • Infant: 700cm long x 500cm wide x 150 micron
  • X Large: 2400cm long x 1000cm wide x 120 micron
  • XX Large: 2600cm long x 1000cm wide x 180 micron
• Features:
  • U-shaped polyester zip closure for easy placement of the body.
  • Heat bonded to prevent leakage.
  • Three handles of 50mm width on each side.
  • Three ties inside the bag at top, middle, and bottom.
  • Attached absorbent pad inside, from head to knees.
  • Content label (12cm x 9cm) on the bottom right surface.
  • Clear indication of description, size, batch number, manufacturing and expiry dates on each unit.
• Compliance with SABS/SANS standards and certification documentation.
• Supply and delivery to Port Shepstone Hospital during specified hours.
• Samples to be provided upon request for evaluation.
