To procure and deliver a one-off supply of twenty CO2 sensor kit adapters for endotracheal tubes to Harry Gwala Regional Hospital. The primary objective is to enable accurate, real-time monitoring of carbon dioxide levels in critically ill patients receiving mechanical ventilation, thereby supporting safe respiratory management and clinical decision-making.
The contract covers the supply of twenty units of the specified adapters, delivered directly to Harry Gwala Regional Hospital. This is a single-delivery, once-off procurement with a quotation validity period of ninety days. All pricing must be firm, inclusive of VAT (where applicable), and fully cover delivery costs to the designated site. Suppliers must guarantee that all products are new, unused, and retain a minimum shelf life of six months from the date of delivery. The evaluation process follows five mandatory stages: administrative compliance, delivery capacity, specification adherence, pricing/preference scoring, and objective sample verification.
The tender does not mandate specific personnel qualifications or technical training requirements. Instead, it requires bidders to demonstrate standard commercial and regulatory capabilities, including proven capacity to deliver medical devices on time, financial stability, strict adherence to SAHPRA regulations, and the logistical ability to provide requested samples. Bidders must also possess quality assurance processes to ensure consistent product conformity throughout the contract period.
Added Dead Space: The internal volume of the adapter where exhaled air remains stagnant and does not participate in fresh gas exchange. Limiting this to 5–6.6 cc prevents dangerous CO2 rebreathing in ventilated patients.
Microbore Luer Sampling Port / Kink-Resistant Tubing: Specialized low-volume connectors and durable tubing designed to safely extract continuous gas samples for real-time capnography monitoring without disrupting ventilator flow or causing blockages.
SAHPRA Licensing: A mandatory regulatory authorization issued by South Africa’s health product regulator, confirming the supplier is legally permitted to handle, distribute, or manufacture medical devices.
80/20 Preference Point System: A procurement evaluation framework allocating eighty percent of scoring to price competitiveness and twenty percent to socio-economic goals, specifically awarding full points to companies with at least fifty-one percent Black ownership.
Sample Submission Requirement: Top-scoring bidders must physically provide product samples for independent testing and specification verification before final contract award.

Most large tenders are composed of tasks in a number of different fields, and it is not always possible for a single company to cater for all of them, and therefore Joint Ventures and Consortia are formed to then submit a tender together.
Government tenders are also requiring the subcontracting of a percentage of the tender work, and the trouble is then finding Subcontractors to comply with the tender requirements
To assist companies with finding tender partners and subcontractors, you can now submit your contact details and company information on this page, so other interested parties can contact you for purposes of forming Joint Ventures and subcontracting
