To restore and maintain the operational functionality of primary kitchen appliances at Harry Gwala Regional Hospital through professional after-service repairs, ensuring uninterrupted food preparation, regulatory compliance, and alignment with healthcare facility operational standards.

Scope of Work

The successful bidder will deliver comprehensive after-service repair solutions for the main kitchen equipment located at the hospital. The scope encompasses:

• On-site fault diagnosis and comprehensive equipment assessment
• Component replacement, system calibration, and full restoration to manufacturer specifications
• Preventive maintenance inspections and performance testing
• Scheduling and execution of repairs to minimize disruption to daily hospital catering operations

A compulsory site meeting is required prior to contract award to physically inspect equipment, verify conditions, and finalize repair parameters.

Technical Requirements

Bidders must demonstrate proven capability in servicing commercial-grade kitchen equipment. Key technical prerequisites include:

• Access to advanced diagnostic tools and certified compatible spare parts
• Strict compliance with electrical, gas, and mechanical safety regulations
• Adherence to National Department of Health hygiene, sanitation, and infection control protocols
• All equipment and repair methodologies must meet relevant South African National Standards (SANS)
• Submission of detailed repair plans, realistic turnaround timeframes, and clear warranty terms for replaced components

Skills Requirements

Personnel assigned to this contract must possess:

• Certified trade qualifications in mechanical/electrical engineering or specialized commercial appliance repair
• Demonstrated experience in healthcare or large-scale institutional catering environments
• Expertise in precise fault isolation, safe handling of high-capacity cooking and refrigeration units, and system recalibration
• Strong adherence to clinical hygiene standards, occupational health and safety regulations, and environmental disposal protocols for waste components
• Effective project coordination and communication skills to liaise with hospital supply chain and facilities management teams
