Objectives
The primary objective is to appoint a qualified contractor to execute comprehensive maintenance, renovation, and repair works across designated accommodation units and communal facilities at Karoo National Park. The project aims to restore structural functionality, enhance aesthetic presentation, and ensure hygiene and safety standards through targeted interior upgrades and building interventions.
Scope of Work
The contract encompasses interior renovations and associated building works at Chalets 14 and 17, Family Cottage 2, and the park reception area. Key deliverables include:
- Ceiling replacement, preparation, and painting for Chalets 14 and 17.
- Interior wall preparation, filling, sanding, and painting across specified rooms.
- Sanding and varnishing of windows and sliding doors.
- Complete removal and replacement of existing baths and bathtubs, including plumbing fittings, traps, taps, and drainage testing.
- Floor renovation involving wooden floor removal, concrete topping, and tile installation.
- Bathroom wall and floor tiling, grouting, and finishing.
- Drywall installation in the reception area, including framing, fixing, and making good.
- Final site cleanup, construction waste removal, and protection of existing fixtures.
Technical Requirements
- All tools, equipment, consumables, and non-client-supplied materials must be provided by the contractor.
- Final measurements and material quantities will be verified on-site prior to work commencement.
- All workmanship must comply with industry construction standards and client specifications.
- Project completion must occur within fourteen working days from the date of purchase order issuance.
- Mandatory administrative submissions include completed Standard Bidding Document (SBD) forms, proof of Central Supplier Database (CSD) registration, tax compliance verification, and a valid Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA) letter.
- Evaluation utilizes an 80/20 preference point allocation model based on price competitiveness and socio-economic goals.
Skills and Qualification Requirements
- Minimum Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) grading of 1 GB.
- Current COIDA Letter of Good Standing confirming active employee injury/illness coverage.
- Registration on the National Treasury Central Supplier Database (CSD).
- Valid tax compliance status and B-BBEE verification certificate or sworn affidavit.
- At least two verifiable references for comparable maintenance or renovation contracts.
- Proven trade competency across multiple disciplines: plastering, painting, tiling, basic plumbing, drywall installation, and ceiling works.
- Operational capacity to mobilize labor and materials rapidly within the stipulated fourteen-day delivery window.
