Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the cleaning of gardens and grounds at Nseleni Community Health Centre (CHC). The aim is to maintain a clean, safe, and well-managed outdoor environment around the health facility, ensuring a hygienic and pleasant setting for staff and visitors.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Maintenance of all garden areas within the property boundary.
• Mowing of grassed areas and nature strips.
• Removal of rubbish, debris, and garden waste.
• Sweeping and blowing pathways, gutters, and driveways.
• Trimming and pruning of trees and shrubs, including removal of fallen or dead vegetation.
• Replacement of fallen/dead trees or shrubs as requested.
• Weed control and removal of noxious plants.
• Maintenance of car parks, pathways, and perimeter fences.
• Ensuring safety and environmental standards are met during all activities.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• All grassed areas must be cleared of obstacles before mowing.
• Grass should be cut to a height of approximately 50-70mm, not exceeding 150mm.
• Lawn edges must be trimmed to be level with adjacent surfaces.
• Pathways and gutters should be swept or blown clean after mowing.
• Tree and shrub pruning must adhere to safety and environmental standards, with trained personnel performing advanced tree work when required.
• Weeds and suckers must be removed from all garden beds and paved areas.
• Rubbish and garden refuse must be removed from the site and disposed of properly.
• All work must comply with safety regulations, including PPE usage and hazard management.
• Contractor must provide necessary tools and equipment, such as brush cutters, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, and safety gear.
• Regular site inspections and maintenance reports are required.

Skills Requirements

The contractor must demonstrate:

• Experience in landscape and garden maintenance, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting.
• Ability to operate and maintain gardening machinery and tools safely and effectively.
• Knowledge of environmental standards, safety procedures, and waste management practices.
• Capacity to manage and supervise a team of at least five staff members.
• Compliance with health and safety regulations, including PPE and hazard controls.
• Ability to respond promptly to requests for additional work such as removal of fallen trees or special pruning.
• Proven track record of delivering similar services within the specified contract period.
