Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to carry out comprehensive repairs to address roof leaks at the Koedoespoort Diesel Depot, including replacing missing or damaged downpipes, header boxes, and horizontal pipes, as well as cleaning and unblocking drainage channels, gutters, and downpipes. The project aims to ensure effective rainwater drainage, prevent water ingress into the building, and improve the overall integrity of the depot's roofing and drainage systems.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Replacement of all missing or broken downpipes, header boxes, and horizontal pipes.
• Cleaning, flushing, and repairing gutters, header boxes, and drainage channels across the entire length of approximately 200 meters of workshops and associated facilities.
• Unblocking and cleaning of drain holes at the bottom of downpipes.
• Repairing roof leaks in workshops, offices, ablution facilities, and FOE buildings.
• Replacement of damaged tiles in kitchen and ablution areas.
• Replacement of windows, ceiling tiles, and other specified fixtures as per detailed quantities.
• Site establishment, safety compliance, and documentation as per specifications.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993) and related regulations.
• Use of SANS-approved scaffolding and ensuring all workers working at heights have medical fitness certificates and competency training.
• Proper safety induction, permits, safety files, and risk assessments must be maintained on site.
• All equipment and installation must adhere to relevant statutory and industry standards, with a designed lifespan specified.
• Water flow tests to be conducted after repairs to ensure drainage effectiveness.
• Proper disposal of debris and adherence to environmental standards.

Skills Requirements

The contractor and their personnel must possess:

• Certified safety training and valid permits for working at heights.
• Medical fitness certificates for all employees involved in height work.
• Competency in working with scaffolding, roofing repairs, gutter cleaning, and plumbing.
• Experience in executing similar roofing and drainage repair projects.
• Ability to prepare and submit safety files, risk assessments, and quality control plans.
• Capability to conduct water flow testing and ensure drainage systems are fully operational post-repair.
