Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the cleaning of gardens and grounds at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital (MGMH) for a period of six months, ensuring maintained cleanliness, safety, and aesthetic standards in the hospital's outdoor areas.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Maintenance of all garden areas within the hospital property.
• Mowing of grassed areas and nature strips.
• Removal of rubbish and debris from all areas.
• Sweeping/blowing pathways, gutters, and driveways after mowing.
• Trimming and pruning trees and shrubs, including removal of fallen/dead trees and plants.
• Weed removal and control across all garden beds, ground gutters, and other areas.
• Tree work beyond regular maintenance, including pruning and removal of dead branches.
• Maintenance of car parks and pathways, including weed control and cleaning.
• Mulching of garden beds and landscaped areas.
• Site cleanup and waste removal on a weekly basis.
• Perimeter fencing and boundary maintenance.
• Drainage and gutter cleaning to ensure proper water flow.
• Periodic replanting and site improvement recommendations.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Provision of trained personnel equipped with appropriate PPE.
• Use of specified machinery and tools such as brush cutters, chainsaws, blowers, and gardening implements, all maintained according to a service plan.
• Adherence to safety standards outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993, including submission of Job Safety Analyses and Safety Data Sheets.
• Use of approved chemicals for weed control, with proper handling and safety measures.
• Compliance with specified working hours: Monday to Friday, 07h00 to 16h00, with provisions for Saturday work during grass cutting in car parks.
• Proper waste management, ensuring removal of garden refuse weekly.
• Implementation of site improvements and periodic replanting as recommended.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Experience in landscape and garden maintenance, including tree work and pest control.
• Competence in operating and maintaining gardening machinery and tools.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
• Ability to provide trained personnel with appropriate PPE and safety certifications.
• Capacity to manage waste and implement environmental best practices.
• Proven track record in delivering similar grounds maintenance services in a healthcare or institutional setting.
