Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the cleaning of roof gutters, main holes, storm water drains, and related maintenance activities at KwaDabeka CHC and other specified health facilities within KwaZulu-Natal. The aim is to ensure proper drainage, prevent blockages, and maintain the integrity of the infrastructure to support effective health service delivery.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Cleaning of gutters, main holes, galley, and storm water drain lines at multiple clinics including Maphephetheni, Molweni, Kwandengezi, Zweloibomvu, Wozani, and Clermont Clinic.
• Installation, supply, and removal of necessary materials and equipment such as high-pressure guns and jetting machines.
• Site inspections, safety planning, and adherence to health and safety regulations.
• Provision of proof of artisan and work program, and compliance with technical specifications and standards.
• Completion within specified contract periods, with work to be carried out in a manner that minimizes disruption to ongoing health services.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Cleaning of gutters, storm water drains, and related infrastructure using approved methods such as high-pressure guns and jetting machines.
• Use of qualified and licensed artisans for all work activities.
• Adherence to the specifications outlined in the technical and safety specifications, including compliance with SABS/SANS standards.
• Preparation and submission of a health and safety plan approved by the health facility’s safety officer.
• Proper disposal of rubble and debris at approved landfill sites with disposal certificates.
• Provision of all necessary safety measures, including hazard notices, personal protective equipment, and guarding of dangerous areas.
• Completion of work within the stipulated timeframe, with site clearance and restoration of affected areas.

Skills Requirements

The tender mandates the following skills and qualifications:

• Qualified and licensed artisans with trade testing certificates and a minimum of two years’ experience in similar work.
• Competent safety officers to develop and oversee health and safety plans.
• Skilled operators for high-pressure cleaning equipment and jetting machines.
• Personnel trained in occupational health and safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment.
• Personnel capable of site supervision, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and quality control.
• Experience in working within health facility environments with minimal disruption to services.
