Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure cleaning services for windows at the KZN Children’s Hospital over a 24-month period. The aim is to ensure the hospital’s windows and glass surfaces are maintained in a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing condition, supporting hospital operations and hygiene standards.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Cleaning of internal and external windows and glass panels across various hospital buildings, including OPD, psychology, psychiatry, physiotherapy, and administrative areas.
• Regular monthly cleaning, with some activities such as floor polishing occurring biannually.
• Cleaning of additional surfaces such as window frames, support structures, and surrounding cladding.
• Provision of all necessary equipment, materials, and personnel to perform the cleaning services as specified.
• Adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards, including compliance with relevant legislation and safety certifications.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Provision of a qualified supervisor on-site at all times to oversee operations and liaise with hospital management.
• Use of environmentally friendly cleaning products and water-fed pole systems or rope access techniques, with certified height work personnel.
• Supply of all necessary cleaning equipment and materials by the contractor.
• Implementation of safety protocols, including PPE, safety files, height certifications, and safety plans.
• Compliance with hospital security and access procedures, including providing staff with identification badges and uniforms.
• Adherence to health and safety legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Labour Relations Act, and relevant environmental regulations.
• Regular inspections and quality assurance to ensure service standards are met.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tender requires the following skills and competencies from the contractor and personnel:

• Qualified and certified window cleaning operators with valid height certification (not older than 2 years).
• Experience in high-rise and building window cleaning, demonstrated through references from public or private entities.
• Knowledge of environmental safety standards and the use of eco-friendly cleaning products.
• Ability to manage and supervise on-site staff effectively, including problem resolution and safety management.
• Compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper PPE usage and safety documentation.
• Capacity to provide trained, skilled, and competent personnel capable of executing the scope of work efficiently.
