Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to construct sheltered parking facilities at Pholela Community Health Centre (CHC). The project aims to enhance parking infrastructure, provide protection from weather elements, and improve accessibility for staff and visitors.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Design, supply, and installation of sheltered parking structures adjacent to the EMS building and pharmacy at Pholela CHC.
• Execution of all civil, structural, electrical, and roofing works necessary for the parking shelters.
• Site preparation, including earthworks, demolition of existing structures, and site clearance.
• Construction of concrete foundations, steel structures, roofing (including chromadek sheets), and associated fittings.
• Provision of all materials, labor, and supervision required for completion within the specified timeframe.
• Compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards throughout the project.

Technical Requirements

The technical scope encompasses:

• Preparation of site including earthworks, excavation, and backfilling.
• Construction of reinforced concrete foundations and footings for structural steel supports.
• Fabrication and installation of structural steel framework, including square tubes, purlins, and bracing, all hot-dip galvanized per SABS standards.
• Roofing using chromadek sheets (gauge 0.58mm), fixed according to manufacturer’s instructions, with appropriate flashings and ridge cappings.
• Installation of structural steel work, including steel purlins, rafters, and base plates, with galvanizing and bolted connections as specified.
• Provision and installation of roofing flashings, gutters, and associated accessories to ensure watertightness.
• All work to conform to relevant standards, including SANS, SABS, and local building regulations.
• Site safety, environmental management, and minimal disruption to existing facilities during construction.

Skills Requirements

The project requires bidders to demonstrate:

• Proven experience in constructing similar sheltered parking structures, with verifiable references and completion certificates.
• Qualified personnel including certified carpenters, welders, and fitters with relevant trade certificates.
• Capability to undertake earthworks, concrete works, steel fabrication, and roofing installation in accordance with technical specifications.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including site-specific safety plans, risk assessments, and compliance with COVID-19 protocols.
• Ability to manage project timelines, quality standards, and environmental considerations effectively.
• Capacity to provide all necessary documentation, including CIDB registration (minimum Grade 1GB or higher), safety files, and proof of technical competence.
