Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure protective clothing and equipment, specifically:

• Coveralls that are fluid-resistant or impermeable with an integrated hood, available in sizes S, Medium, and Large.
• Full face shields for eye and face protection.

The aim is to ensure the supply of high-quality, compliant protective gear to enhance safety in high-risk clinical environments, particularly for Ebola and other biological hazards.

Scope

The scope includes the procurement of:

• 400 units of coveralls (sizes S, Medium, Large).
• Full face shields for face and eye protection.

The items must meet specified technical standards, be compliant with relevant safety standards, and be delivered to Ngwelezana Hospital within the contract period. The procurement covers both the supply and delivery of the specified protective equipment.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the items are as follows:

Coveralls

• Single-use, fluid-resistant, and impermeable with an integrated hood.
• Fabric must provide a biological and chemical barrier meeting AAMI PB70 Level 4 or above.
• Material should be microporous film laminates or flashspun high-density polyethylene.
• Design features include:
  • Front zipper closure covered by a glued-in storm flap.
  • Sealed or taped seams to prevent fluid penetration.
  • Elasticated wrists and ankles with thumb loops.
  • Available in sizes S, Medium, and Large.
  • Color: Light (e.g., white).
• Integrated hood designed with an ergonomic 3-piece construction, elastic face opening, and seamless fit with goggles and respirators.

Face and Eye Protection

• Full face shield made of optically clear, shock-resistant, and fluid-resistant material (e.g., polycarbonate).
• Dimensions sufficient to provide full facial coverage (approx. 25-30 cm width, 20-34 cm height).
• Includes adjustable headband and hypoallergenic foam forehead pad for comfort and ventilation.
• Compliance with recognized safety standards for impact and chemical resistance.

Skills Requirements

Suppliers must demonstrate:

• Proven capability to manufacture or supply PPE that meets specified technical and safety standards.
• Experience in supplying medical-grade protective clothing and equipment, preferably for high-risk environments such as infectious disease control.
• Ability to provide samples for evaluation prior to full order confirmation.
• Compliance with South African and international safety standards (e.g., SABS approval).
• Capacity to deliver within the specified timeframe and to the designated location.
