Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure cuffed microlaryngeal oral/nasal tracheal tubes that meet specified standards and specifications for use in medical procedures, specifically in narrow or surgically altered airways. The procurement aims to ensure the availability of high-quality, sterile, and reliable tracheal tubes to support clinical needs at Grey's Hospital.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes:

• Supply of 40 units of cuffed microlaryngeal oral/nasal tracheal tubes with Murphy eye, in specified sizes (ID 4.0 mm, 5.0 mm, and 6.0 mm).
• Provision of tubes that conform to the detailed specifications, including material, size, length, cuff design, and safety features.
• Delivery of the products to Grey's Hospital, Pietermaritzburg, within the contract period.
• Compliance with relevant standards such as ISO 5361 and applicable safety and quality standards.
• Submission of samples for evaluation and adherence to technical and administrative requirements.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the cuffed microlaryngeal tubes include:

• Material: Clear thermo-sensitive, extra-long, kink-resistant, atraumatic PVC, latex-free, sterile, and individually packed.
• Design: Full Magill curvature with radiopaque line and clear, durable depth markings in 1 cm intervals.
• Proximal end: 15mm OD circuit connector made from medical-grade plastic.
• Distal end: Bevelled atraumatic tip with Murphy eye opposite to the bevel.
• Cuff: High-volume, low-pressure PVC cuff with pilot cuff and one-way valve, resistant to Nitrous Oxide effects, with thickness approximately 50 microns.
• Size and length: Specific sizes with tube length approximately 320 mm, suitable for the respective internal diameter (ID) and outer diameter (OD).
• Packaging: Marked with trade name, size, specification, manufacturing site, CE number, lot number, expiry date.
