Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to engage a qualified service provider to perform servicing of Transformer 1 and 2 at the Customs House in Cape Town. The work aims to ensure the transformers are maintained in optimal condition, including sampling, testing, analysis, oil supply, and cleaning, to ensure reliable operation and longevity of the equipment.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Locating and purging sample valves on transformers and collecting oil samples for laboratory analysis.
• Conducting various analyses such as gas, breakdown voltage, interface tension, furan, PCB, particle count, and density tests.
• Servicing transformers by replacing cork gaskets and supplying high-quality insulation oil with specified properties.
• Cleaning transformer rooms and transformers.
• Supplying and delivering transformer oil suitable for topping up and ensuring the oil meets relevant standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Proper sampling procedures with labeled samples sent to qualified laboratories.
• Performing comprehensive analyses including gas, dielectric strength, interface tension, furan, PCB, particle count, and specific gravity.
• Using insulation oil with high dielectric strength, chemical stability, and a lifespan exceeding 40 years, compliant with latest standards.
• Cleaning transformers and transformer rooms to maintain operational standards.
• Adherence to relevant SANS standards and obtaining certificates of compliance post-installation and repairs.

Skills Requirements

The tender mandates the following skills and qualifications for personnel involved:

• An Electrician or Technician with a valid wireman's license and trade test certificate.
• Personnel capable of performing sampling, testing, analysis, and servicing of high-voltage transformers.
• Experience in handling transformer oil sampling, laboratory analysis, and interpretation of test results.
• Ability to supply high-quality insulating oil that meets technical specifications.
