Objectives

The primary objectives of this tender are to undertake minor repairs and apply environmentally friendly paint at the MEC Offices, including the replacement of roof sheeting. Additionally, the project aims to promote sustainable practices by using eco-friendly materials and methods, ensure safety and compliance with health and safety regulations, and deliver quality infrastructure within the specified scope and timeframe.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Minor repairs to MEC offices and conference centre facilities.
• Application of environmentally friendly paint on internal and external surfaces, including plastered walls, ceilings, doors, and frames.
• Replacement of roof sheeting, including removal of existing roofing, installation of new roof coverings, and associated carpentry works.
• Waterproofing, insulation, and roof covering works with specified materials.
• Carpentry and joinery, including installation of purlins, fascias, and barge boards.
• Ceiling installations, including gypsum plasterboard ceilings and cornices.
• Plumbing and drainage works, including rainwater gutters and downpipes.
• Painting of wood and plaster surfaces with specified eco-friendly paints.
• Site information, drawings, and annexures relevant to the project scope.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Use of environmentally friendly paints compliant with SABS standards.
• Adherence to JBCC Minor Works Agreement (4th Edition) contractual conditions.
• Implementation of health, safety, and environmental management plans, including risk assessments and safety procedures.
• Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, including safety signage, PPE, and site safety protocols.
• Proper removal and installation of roofing materials, waterproofing, insulation, and carpentry components.
• Application of specified paint types on designated surfaces, ensuring quality and durability.
• Provision of site information, drawings, and annexures as part of the contractual documentation.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Competence in executing minor repairs, roofing, carpentry, ceiling, painting, plumbing, and waterproofing works.
• Experience in handling environmentally friendly and eco-conscious construction materials and methods.
• Qualified personnel with appropriate NQF levels and skills in labour-intensive construction, supervision, and management.
• Proven ability to adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations, including risk assessments and safety plans.
• Capability to manage site logistics, coordinate trades, and ensure quality control throughout the project duration.
• Knowledge of relevant standards, specifications, and contractual obligations as per JBCC agreements.
