Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit quotations for the repair and servicing of fire equipment at the Luthuli Museum in Stanger, under the Department of Art & Culture. The aim is to ensure the fire safety systems are maintained in optimal condition, complying with relevant standards and regulations, to safeguard the museum premises and its occupants.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Repairs and servicing of fire equipment, including fire hoses, extinguishers (9kg DCP, 2.5kg DCP, 2kg CO2), signage, and water pressure testing.
• Inspection, repair, and replacement of components such as nozzles, valves, pressure gauges, seals, and pins.
• Pressure testing, hydro testing, refilling, and recharging of fire extinguishers with specified agents.
• Supply and installation of signage and fire safety labels.
• Provision of after-service reports and certification of completed work.
• Adherence to relevant standards such as SANS 1475 and occupational health and safety regulations.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• All repairs and servicing must comply with SANS 1475 standards and manufacturer specifications.
• Equipment must be inspected for physical damage, corrosion, leakage, and missing parts, with repairs or replacements carried out as needed.
• Pressure and hydro testing must be performed where applicable, with refilling to manufacturer-specified agents.
• All work must be documented with service certificates, maintenance stickers, and detailed reports.
• Technicians must be registered with SAQCC and hold valid certificates, including gas certificates where applicable.
• All repair materials and equipment must be approved and suitable for the intended purpose.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required for bidders include:

• CIDB grading of at least 1 SF or higher, indicating capability to undertake fire equipment repairs and servicing.
• Technicians must be registered with SAQCC and possess valid gas certificates for technicians handling gas-based extinguishers.
• Demonstrated experience in servicing and repairing fire safety equipment, with a minimum of 5 years on comparable projects.
• Ability to conduct pressure and hydro testing, refilling, and certification in accordance with standards.
• Provision of qualified personnel with relevant technical qualifications, CVs, and proof of registration or accreditation.
• Capacity to supply approved materials, tools, and equipment necessary for comprehensive servicing and repairs.
