Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to design, draft, and supply schematic building floor emergency evacuation plans for Catherine Booth Hospital. The plans aim to enhance hospital safety by providing clear, colour-coded evacuation routes, emergency procedures, and assembly points, all in laminated, aluminium-framed boards installed at strategic hospital locations.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Creating comprehensive emergency evacuation plans for all hospital buildings and departments, including specific areas such as wards, OPD, administration, theatre, kitchen, and residential areas.
• Designing plans with detailed routes, fire equipment placement, electrical distribution points, and assembly locations.
• Producing colour, luminescent, laminated boards in A3 size, installed in aluminium clip frames.
• Installing multiple boards across various hospital locations, including reception, wards, entrances, notice boards, and departmental areas.
• Providing additional panels and layouts as needed to cover all hospital zones.
• Ensuring all plans are compliant with relevant standards and regulations, including SANS 10400 and occupational health and safety requirements.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the project are as follows:

• Design and supply of colour-coded, luminescent emergency evacuation plans laminated and mounted in aluminium frames.
• Plans must include evacuation routes, fire equipment locations, electrical points, and assembly areas.
• Boards should be of A3 size, installed in aluminium clip frames, and suitable for high corrosive environments with heavy galvanising and protective finishes.
• Plans must be detailed for each building and department, including specific points of view for each room.
• All equipment and materials used must be brand new, of high quality, and support spare parts availability for at least 5 years.
• Design must adhere to relevant standards such as SANS 10400, SANS 0142, and SANS 10252-1&2.
• Installation must be completed within a 2-week period, with a 12-month guarantee on the completed installation.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Qualified architectural draftsmen with experience in building plans, fire regulations, and hospital safety procedures.
• Proficiency in creating luminescent, colour-coded safety signage and evacuation plans.
• Ability to produce laminated, durable boards suitable for high-traffic hospital environments.
• Experience in installing safety signage in complex hospital settings, ensuring compliance with relevant building and safety standards.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, electrical and plumbing standards, and environmental protection measures.
• Capability to coordinate with hospital maintenance and safety departments for site inspections and final approvals.
