Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a Desktop Tablet Counting Machine suitable for pharmacy and hospital use, aimed at streamlining tablet and capsule counting processes, improving accuracy, and enhancing efficiency in pharmaceutical dispensing operations.

Scope

The scope includes the supply, installation, commissioning, and testing of a desktop or benchtop tablet and capsule counting machine. The machine must meet specified technical and quality standards, come with necessary training, manuals, and support, and be suitable for use in hospital pharmacy settings within KwaZulu-Natal. The procurement also covers optional accessories, spare parts, and maintenance support for a defined lifecycle period.

Technical Requirements

• Functional Capabilities: Must count tablets (coated/uncoated) and capsules (hard/soft gelatin) with a counting range of 1 – 9,999 units per cycle, supporting batch and continuous operation, with adjustable batch settings via digital interface.
• Performance: Minimum counting speed of 500 tablets/min, accuracy of at least 99.5%, and support for optical/photoelectric, infrared, or weight-based counting technology.
• Physical & Construction: Stainless steel (preferably SS304), GMP-compliant design, easy-clean removable parts, dust management system, maximum footprint of 800mm width, weight around 150kg.
• Electrical & Power: Operates on 220-240V, 50Hz, with power consumption ≤1.0 kW, compliant with SABS standards, protected against electromagnetic interference, CE certified, hospital-grade mains cable (minimum 3m).
• Operational Features: Digital display, adjustable feed mechanism, auto-stop at set count, error alert system.
• Additional Features: Includes installation, commissioning, training, starter pack, optional accessories, spare parts availability for 10+ years, software updates, and comprehensive manuals.
• Support & Maintenance: Well-established service and repair facility in KwaZulu-Natal, trained technicians, response within 24 hours, guarantee of no additional equipment required for operation, and warranty of at least 24 months.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified technicians with manufacturer-certified training in equipment service, calibration, and repair.
• Technicians must be directly employed or subcontracted, with details of their experience, contact information, and availability within KwaZulu-Natal.
• Ability to provide ongoing technical support, training, and spare parts supply for a minimum of 10 years.
• Demonstrated capacity to perform installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing in hospital pharmacy environments.
• Provision of comprehensive manuals, software, and troubleshooting tools at no extra cost.
