Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure disposable linear cutters and linear cutter reloads to meet the surgical and medical needs of Harry Gwala Regional Hospital. The procurement aims to ensure the availability of high-quality, compliant surgical devices that conform to relevant standards and specifications, supporting effective medical procedures.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes the supply of:

• Disposable linear cutters
• Linear cutter reloads

The items are intended for use in colorectal and other surgical procedures at Harry Gwala Regional Hospital. The procurement covers the supply of these items on a once-off basis, with delivery to the specified hospital location, adhering to the technical and quality standards outlined in the specifications.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the items include:

• SINGLE USE RELOADABLE LINEAR STAPLER/CUTTER
• Suitable for thick tissue with an open staple height of 4.8mm and closed height of 2.0mm
• Ergonomic design with textured grip for user comfort and control
• Adjustable firing lever enabling firing from either side
• Quick release button and rear hinge for single-hand operation
• Use of titanium staples
• May incorporate double or tristaple technology, capable of simultaneously cutting and dividing tissue between two rows
• Sterile packaging
• Staple height of 4.8mm with titanium staples

The devices must comply with the specified standards, including being SABS approved, and must be supplied in single units with appropriate packaging to prevent damage during transit.

Skills and Qualification Requirements

Bidder qualifications and skills requirements include:

• Provision of samples for evaluation, with at least three highest scoring bidders submitting samples for testing and approval
• Demonstrated capacity to supply the specified surgical devices in compliance with technical specifications
• Provision of valid documentation such as a SARS tax clearance or PIN, and registration on the Central Suppliers Database (CSD)
• Compliance with procurement policies, including preference points for BBBEE status (full points for companies at least 51% owned by Black People)
• Ability to deliver within the specified delivery period and provide after-sales support, if applicable
• Experience in supplying medical devices, particularly surgical staplers and reloads, with proven quality assurance processes

Furthermore, bidders must be able to demonstrate adherence to all technical, quality, and safety standards, and possess the capacity to meet the hospital’s delivery and technical support requirements.
