Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to drill four groundwater monitoring boreholes at the Libanon Landfill Site. The boreholes will facilitate groundwater level measurement and sampling for laboratory analysis, enabling the Municipality to monitor potential environmental impacts of landfill operations in compliance with environmental regulations.

Scope

The scope of work is divided into two main stages:

Stage 1: Hydrogeological Investigation and Regulatory Approvals

• Conduct a hydrological site survey to identify optimal drilling locations, with a detailed report on viability.
• Obtain necessary permits and licenses, including WULA licenses and other relevant approvals.

Stage 2: Drilling, Construction, Development, and Testing

• Drill four boreholes, each approximately 30–35 meters deep, with a finished diameter of 200 mm, including casing, gravel pack, and borehole cap.
• Collect formation samples at 2-meter intervals and water samples from aquifers encountered.
• Construct boreholes suitable for groundwater sampling and testing, with proper records and reports.
• Secure each borehole with an anti-theft locking mechanism, and restore drilling sites to a clean condition post-completion.

Technical Requirements

• Perform hydrological site survey and prepare a detailed viability report.
• Apply for and acquire all necessary permits and licenses for borehole drilling.
• Drill boreholes with specified dimensions and depths, using appropriate casing and gravel packs.
• Collect geological formation samples at specified intervals.
• Conduct water sampling and testing, with results submitted to the Project Manager.
• Maintain detailed daily records of drilling activities, geological conditions, and sampling data.
• Ensure boreholes are lockable with approved anti-theft mechanisms.
• Manage waste and site restoration according to industry standards.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified hydrogeologists or geotechnical specialists to conduct site surveys and assess drilling locations.
• Experienced borehole drilling contractors with capacity to drill to specified depths through various geological formations.
• Personnel skilled in sampling, testing, and record-keeping for environmental monitoring.
• Ability to acquire permits and comply with environmental and municipal regulations.
• Technical expertise in installing secure, lockable boreholes and managing site restoration.
