Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure reusable patient return electrode gel pads suitable for use with specific diathermy machines at Port Shepstone Hospital. The procurement aims to ensure the availability of high-quality, compliant electrode gel pads that meet technical specifications, support surgical procedures, and promote local enterprise participation through preference points.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply and delivery of:

• Re-usable patient return electrode gel pads for adult and paediatric use.
• Compatibility with Medhold and Conmed diathermy machines.
• Electrode pads with specified dimensions, waterproof, latex-free, radiolucent, and with re-usable gel pads.
• Supplies must include cables, manufacturing and expiry dates, batch numbers, and contact details of the manufacturer.
• Delivery to Port Shepstone Hospital’s SCM Department, during office hours.

Technical Requirements

The electrode gel pads must meet the following specifications:

• Reusable patient return electrodes compatible with specified diathermy machines.
• Adult: Dimensions 120 cm x 50 cm x 1.3 cm, waterproof, latex-free, radiolucent, with 4.1 m connecting cable.
• Paediatric: Dimensions 85 cm x 40 cm x 1.3 cm, waterproof, latex-free, radiolucent, with 4.1 m connecting cable.
• Container must include lot number, manufacturing and expiry dates, and manufacturer contact details.
• Bidder must specify shelf life; failure to do so disqualifies the quotation.
• Compliance with SABS/SANS standards or equivalent certification.

Skills and Qualification Requirements

Bidder must demonstrate:

• Ability to supply and deliver the specified electrode gel pads in compliance with technical specifications.
• Provision of relevant certification or proof of compliance with quality standards (e.g., SABS/SANS).
• Capacity to meet delivery timelines and handle logistics for timely supply.
• Experience in supplying medical devices or similar healthcare products.
• Understanding of procurement policies, including preference points for local enterprise promotion.
• Ability to provide samples for evaluation if required, and to comply with all administrative and technical evaluation criteria.
