Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the servicing and maintenance of the fire detection system at Northdale Hospital. This includes visual inspections, testing, repairs, and ensuring the system's proper functioning to maintain safety standards.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Visual inspection of control panels, detectors, wiring, and signage.
• Functional testing of manual pull stations, smoke detectors, heat detectors, and notification appliances.
• Verification and testing of backup power sources and batteries.
• Updating and maintaining system software and firmware.
• Documentation of inspections, tests, and maintenance activities.
• Submission of a program of works and attending a compulsory site briefing.
• Testing of the system post-repair in the presence of hospital maintenance personnel.
• Guarantee of repairs and replacement parts for a minimum period of six months.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Compliance with the Department of Health Standard Specification for firefighting equipment servicing.
• Use of new, unused, and latest type components, with SABs mark where possible.
• Accreditation certificates from ECB/DOL, SANS 322 and SANS 246, and proof of similar service experience.
• Provision of a safety plan, technicians' accreditation, and proof of previous work.
• Adherence to Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and related regulations.
• Guarantee against defective parts and workmanship for at least six months.
• Proper testing and commissioning of the entire system after repairs.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Qualified technicians with accreditation under the South African Qualification & Certification Committee (SAQCC).
• Experience in servicing fire detection systems, evidenced by previous orders and completion certificates.
• Knowledge of relevant standards such as SANS 322 and SANS 246.
• Ability to prepare and submit safety plans and technical documentation.
• Compliance with health and safety regulations and proper site supervision.
