Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to erect and construct galvanized steel burglar guards, gates, ramps, and rails at Christ the King Hospital, ensuring secure and functional infrastructure as per the specified technical and safety standards.

Scope

The scope includes the supply, installation, and commissioning of:

• Galvanized steel burglar guards for windows and doors across various wards and departments.
• Gates, including entrance and emergency exit gates, with associated locking mechanisms and burglar proofing.
• Ramp with rails from the road to the landing, including structural steel work and reinforcement.
• Structural steel components such as posts, stays, handrails, and fencing elements.
• Metalwork including aluminum windows, doors, and screens.
• Paintwork, carpentry, and joinery as required for finishing.

The work encompasses all related civil, structural, and finishing activities, site visits, and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Technical Requirements

• Adherence to the attached technical specifications, drawings, and standards including SANS codes and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Use of approved proprietary materials and finishes, including galvanizing, chromium plating, and anodizing as specified.
• Proper installation of burglar guards with epoxy filling of brick cavities, welding of raw bolts, and ensuring guards are 100mm short on height for cleaning access.
• Structural steel components must be hot-dip galvanized in accordance with SANS 763, with uniform zinc coating free of imperfections.
• Concrete work to be effectively cured, with reinforcement and formwork installed as per specifications.
• All work to be carried out with minimal disruption to hospital operations, respecting existing structures and services.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in steel fabrication, galvanizing, and installation of security fencing and gates.
• Qualified artisans and tradespersons with relevant trade test certificates in welding, carpentry, and metalwork.
• Capability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and site instructions accurately.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including safe handling of hazardous materials like soil insecticides and asbestos-related materials.
• Ability to coordinate civil, structural, and finishing works efficiently within the project timeline.
• Competence in quality assurance, inspection, and testing procedures to ensure compliance with standards.
