Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to engage a qualified contractor with experience in fiberglass pool repairs and refurbishment to undertake repairs and re-lining of splash pools at uShaka Marine World. The contractor will restore the integrity, appearance, and safety of the fiberglass lining in multiple splash pools, ensuring leak-free operation and compliance with safety standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Complete refurbishment of the fiberglass pool shells, including removal of existing lining, surface preparation, and re-lining with new fiberglass material.
• Specific work on various pools, including:
• Zoom-Zoom Re-Fiberglass: removal and relining of a 135m² pool.
• Squid Re-Gelcoat: removal and reapplication of gelcoat over 88m², including blister repair.
• Cuda Re-Gelcoat: removal and reapplication over 142m² with blister repair.
• Mamba Re-Gelcoat: removal and reapplication over 88m² with blister repair.
• Jika-Jika Re-Gelcoat: removal and reapplication over 195m² with blister repair.
• Additional repairs for delamination and blistering in other pools (25m²).

The work involves all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary for a complete refurbishment according to specified technical standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Use of premium "pool grade" materials, applied to achieve a dry film thickness of 600-800 microns.
• Preparation of surfaces by removing osmosis blisters, cleaning with pure acetone, and ensuring surfaces are free of contaminants.
• Application of gelcoat with proper surface preparation, including bubble removal, step edge finishing, and broadcast of silica sand or glass beads for grit lock-in.
• All work must comply with relevant local safety and environmental regulations.
• Warranty covering delamination and fading.

Skills Requirements

The contractor must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in fiberglass pool repairs, refurbishment, and gelcoat reapplication within the last 5 years.
• Ability to carry out surface preparation, blister repair, gelcoat application, and fiberglass lamination to high standards.
• Capability to manage site safety and adhere to occupational health and safety regulations.
• Availability to undertake work during specified periods, such as school holidays, and maintain price stability until project commencement.
• Qualified personnel with expertise in fiberglass and gelcoat application techniques.
