Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the repair of the toilets on the 3rd floor of Agriport at the Durban Port Terminal. The aim is to ensure functional, compliant, and safe sanitary facilities that meet statutory and operational requirements, including safety, health, and environmental standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Repair and refurbishment of toilets on the 3rd floor of Agriport, Durban.
• Installation of new plumbing fixtures, including water supply and waste pipes.
• Plastering, sealing, and finishing works to ensure neatness and compliance.
• Installation of vent valves, pipe covers, and other accessories as specified.
• Electrical work for lighting in the toilet areas.
• Provision of necessary safety measures, permits, and compliance with legislation.
• Adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards throughout the project duration.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Use of certified, qualified tradespersons, specifically trade-tested plumbers and electricians with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
• Provision of proof of registration with CIDB Grade level 2-GB or higher.
• Implementation of plumbing works including installation of water supply and waste pipes up to ±43m height, with specified pipe sizes and fixtures.
• Installation of vent valves, pipe covers, and electrical lighting fixtures as per design specifications.
• Compliance with all relevant legislation, safety standards, and statutory requirements, including COIDA registration and good standing.
• Provision of warranties of at least 12 months on all repairs and installations.
• Preparation and submission of safety documentation, risk assessments, and method statements prior to commencement.
• Adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols and PPE requirements for all personnel.

Skills Requirements

• Trade-tested plumbers and electricians with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience.
• Proven experience in similar toilet refurbishment and plumbing projects within industrial or port environments.
• Ability to prepare detailed project plans, Gantt charts, and lead-time commitments.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
• Competence in risk assessment, safety management, and compliance documentation.
• Effective communication skills for coordination with Transnet personnel and stakeholders.
• Capability to deliver within specified lead times and adhere to quality standards.
