Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for hot work, cold work, and alignment of general engineering on harbour craft equipment and supporting systems at the Port of Cape Town. The aim is to ensure the vessels are maintained at optimal operational levels, supporting safe, reliable, and efficient port operations in line with Transnet's strategic objectives and maritime safety regulations.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Provision of services for hot work, cold work, and general engineering on harbour crafts at Jetty 1.
• Servicing, overhaul, cutting, welding, cleaning, and aligning equipment on hulls and superstructures.
• Purchase and supply of consumables such as fittings, anodes, rubbers, and other necessary materials.
• Work on pumps, piping systems, sewage systems, and associated components including gasket replacement, welding, and tank cleaning.
• Calibration, inspection, and supply of statutory tags, bolts, nuts, gauges, relief valves, heat exchangers, and other critical equipment.
• Delivery of all required products within 24 hours of request.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• Service providers must have first-hand knowledge and experience in marine general engineering, hot work, and cold work.
• All work must comply with applicable standards and regulations, including SOLAS and the Merchant Shipping Act.
• Products supplied must be guaranteed by the manufacturer and SABS standards.
• Work must include servicing, overhaul, welding, cutting, cleaning, and alignment of equipment on vessels.
• All consumables and materials must be sourced, delivered, and used in accordance with the specified procedures and within the stipulated lead times.

Skills Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate:

• Experience in marine general engineering, particularly in hot and cold work on harbour crafts.
• Successful track record of similar projects, supported by verifiable references and delivery notes.
• Knowledge of applicable maritime safety standards, regulations, and statutory requirements.
• Capability to deliver services promptly, within 24 hours of request, and to guarantee product quality and compliance.
• Ability to provide detailed references, including project descriptions, durations, client contact details, and project values.
