Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a mid-range general ultrasound machine that meets specified technical and quality standards for use at Greys Hospital under the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health. The procurement aims to ensure the acquisition of a modern, fully digital ultrasound system capable of supporting various diagnostic applications, including obstetric, gynecological, abdominal, vascular, musculoskeletal, small parts, and pediatric imaging.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply, installation, and commissioning of a complete ultrasound system, including probes, accessories, and consumables as specified. The system must comply with international safety and quality standards, be fully DICOM compatible for integration with hospital PACS, and include comprehensive warranty and maintenance services. The procurement covers all related technical documentation, training, and support necessary for operational readiness at Grey’s Hospital.

Technical Requirements

• The ultrasound unit must be fully digital with advanced imaging capabilities, including high image quality, tissue harmonic imaging, and multi-frequency probes.
• The system should offer a minimum of 1024 processing channels, a frame rate of at least 394 fps, and a depth of at least 30 cm.
• Probes included must be multi-frequency, with specific types such as curvi-linear (2.0-7.0 MHz), linear (4.5-16 MHz), and transvaginal (3.9-15.0 MHz).
• The system must support comprehensive measurements, including obstetric and fetal growth parameters, with storage for up to 300 patient data sets.
• Must be fully compliant with DICOM standards and capable of integration with hospital PACS, including the necessary licenses and setup assistance.
• The unit should include a thermal digital printer, UPS backup, and be housed in a robust mobile cart.
• Equipment must meet international electrical safety standards (IEC 60601 series) and be certified EC compliant.
• The system must include all specified accessories, consumables, and spare parts, with provisions for software upgrades and calibration.

Skills Requirements

• Proven technical expertise in the supply, installation, and maintenance of advanced ultrasound systems.
• Ability to provide comprehensive training to end-users on system operation, image optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Capability to support PACS integration, including installation and configuration assistance.
• Experience in providing ongoing technical support, calibration, and software updates as per manufacturer specifications.
• Knowledge of international safety and quality standards applicable to medical imaging equipment.
• Competence in preparing and submitting all required documentation, including compliance certificates, warranties, and technical manuals.
