Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a Giga Counter Machine with Probe that meets the latest technological standards, suitable for intra-operative identification of sentinel nodes and parathyroids. The equipment aims to enhance surgical precision and diagnostic capabilities within the Department of Surgery at the specified health facility.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply, delivery, installation, testing, calibration, demonstration, and commissioning of the portable giga counter and probe. It includes providing comprehensive training to hospital staff, offering technical support, and ensuring availability of spare parts and software updates throughout the equipment's lifecycle. The tender also covers optional accessories, warranty, maintenance, and compliance with relevant safety and quality standards.

Technical Requirements

  • Large 5-digit display
  • PC port and carry case
  • Auto probe identification
  • Automatic windowing for common radioisotopes (Tc-99m, I-125, I-131, F-18)
  • Corded and cordless probe options
  • Angled small probe (11mm, L197/199mm)
  • Sound modes: BIP or FM
  • Storage for 9 configurations
• Compliance with IEC 60601-1 and 60601-1-2 standards for electrical safety
• CE certification and hospital-grade mains cable (minimum 3 meters)
• Equipment must be new, CE certified, and protected against electromagnetic interference
• Provision of software for fault finding, calibration, and maintenance at no extra cost
• Guarantee period of at least 24 months, with a minimum guaranteed uptime of 99%
• Availability of spare parts for at least 10 years
• Provision of comprehensive manuals (operation, maintenance, troubleshooting) in English
• Demonstration units available for evaluation and clinical testing

Skills Requirements

• Manufacturers or authorized agents must have a well-established service and repair facility in KwaZulu-Natal.
• Qualified technicians must be OEM trained in servicing, calibration, and repair of the equipment, with proof of training submitted with the bid.
• Availability of local technical support, including a dedicated service department with contact details.
• Provision of training to hospital technical staff on calibration, maintenance, and repair procedures, including certification upon completion.
• Ability to supply spare parts and software updates for at least 10 years.
• Demonstration of compliance with international safety standards (IEC 60601-1, 60601-1-2) and CE certification.
• Ability to provide a full maintenance and service agreement post-warranty for at least 2 years.
