Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure glass vials suitable for vaccine packaging, specifically 8ml glass bottles, to meet the specifications outlined by Onderstepoort Biological Products Ltd. The aim is to ensure the supply of high-quality, compliant glass vials that adhere to specified technical standards for vaccine storage and administration.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes the supply of:

• 449,280 units of 8ml glass vials (product code: PM 0130)

The vials must meet detailed specifications regarding dimensions, shape, and packaging requirements, including packing in trays and cartons suitable for storage and transport. The supply will be delivered to Onderstepoort Biological Products Ltd as per the specified quantities and packaging standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the glass vials are as follows:

• Total height: 40.0mm ± 0.50mm (39.50 – 40.50 mm)
• Bottom width: 22.0mm ± 0.20mm (21.80 - 22.80 mm)
• Internal diameter of neck rim: 12.6mm ± 0.20mm (12.40 - 12.80 mm)
• Outside diameter of neck rim: 20.0mm ± 0.20mm (19.80 – 20.20 mm)
• Thickness of brim: 3.60mm ± 0.20mm (3.40 – 3.80 mm)
• Outer diameter of neck: 16.50mm max
• Shape: Flat circumference, free from projections, with a concave bottom and smooth surface

Additional packaging and labeling requirements include:

• Samples to be labeled with product name, date, time, batch number, and operator signature
• Packed upright in plastic trays (240mm x 590mm x 35mm), with 310 bottles per tray arranged in 31 staggered rows of 10 bottles each
• Tray to be shrink-wrapped, with 160 trays packed into cartons, fixed onto wooden pallets, and shrink-wrapped for transport
• Each consignment must include a certificate of conformance/analysis signed by the supplier

The supplier must demonstrate:

• Technical capability to produce glass vials that meet the detailed specifications
• Experience in manufacturing pharmaceutical-grade glass containers
• Quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with specifications and standards
• Ability to provide certificates of conformance and analysis for each batch
• Packaging expertise to ensure proper packing, labeling, and transportation standards
• Compliance with procurement and regulatory requirements, including submission of BBBEE certificates and adherence to procurement policies
