Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a Refrigeration Technician to assist on Gough Island during the 2026 Maintenance Voyage. The technician will be responsible for performing repairs, servicing, and on-site maintenance of industrial and walk-in fridges to ensure optimal system performance, longevity, and environmental safety.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Assisting with repairs, servicing, and maintenance of industrial and walk-in fridges on Gough Island.
• Traveling and working at the Gough Island base during the voyage.
• Participating in skivvy (cleaning) duties while on the island.
• Completing a medical fitness test at the technician’s own cost prior to the voyage.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the tender include:

• Possession of a trade test certificate as a Refrigeration Mechanic.
• Minimum of 5 years refrigeration experience.
• Ability to perform repairs, servicing, and maintenance of industrial and walk-in fridges.
• Capability to undertake tasks such as replacing filters, lubricating moving parts, and troubleshooting refrigeration systems.
• Participation in a medical fitness test (at own cost).
• Provision of a CV and trade test certification for the refrigeration technician.

Skills Requirements

• Trade skills in refrigeration mechanics, with relevant certification and experience.

• Ability to work independently in remote and challenging environments.
