Objectives

The primary objective is to supply and install custom wooden shelving units across designated hospital facilities while executing necessary preparatory, finishing, and compliance works to establish functional, safe, and durable storage environments for ward stationery, patient clothing, medical kits, and pharmaceutical supplies.

Scope of Work

• Supply and install wooden shelving in the H-Ward (stationery, chemical storage, stock, and linen rooms), Male Isolation Ward (kit room), and Pharmacy storeroom.
• Execute comprehensive surface preparation including wall/ceiling scraping, crack filling, broken ceiling patching, and removal/replacement of existing vinyl flooring where specified.
• Apply full interior painting: dark varnish (two coats) on installed shelving; white oil paint on walls and white PVC paint on ceilings (two coats each).
• Submit a mandatory health and safety file prior to commencement.
• Undergo final inspection and functional testing by hospital maintenance personnel upon completion.
• Contract duration is one-off with a strict execution period of one week from the date of the official order.

Technical Requirements

• Materials: Strictly 18mm BC Grade shutter ply board for all shelving and partitioning. All materials must meet SABS quality standards.
• Dimensions & Layout: Precise measurements apply per location (e.g., H-Ward stationery: 50cm vertical spacing, 35cm shelf height, 3.5m wall-to-wall runs; Male Isolation kit room: 40x50x40cm and 45x50x50cm modules; Pharmacy: 3.1m length x 2.46m height partition).
• Finishing: Shelves mounted flush against walls, treated with dark varnish. Walls/ceilings prepared, primed, and painted white using specified oil/PVC formulations.
• Compliance: Full adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act. A detailed programme of works and kick-off meeting are required post-award.
• Documentation: Valid CIDB grading (1GB or higher), proof of trade-tested carpentry personnel, evidence of one completed similar project, active Central Suppliers Database (CSD) registration, and SARS tax clearance.

Skills Requirements

• Employment of trade-tested, competent carpenters and skilled painters capable of precise joinery, wall preparation, and multi-surface coating application.
• Appointment of a skilled site supervisor authorized to receive instructions and enforce safety protocols.
• Demonstrated capacity to manage simultaneous installation, painting, and minor structural repairs within a compressed one-week timeframe.
• Ability to compile and submit a compliant health and safety file aligned with statutory construction requirements.
