Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified contractor to construct drainage and associated infrastructure on Ngcobo Road in Ward 08. The work includes stone pitching, concrete headwalls, subsoil drainage, and installation of road furniture, ensuring compliance with specified standards and standards of the Department of Transport.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Site establishment and preparation, including clearing and shaping.
• Construction of stone pitching along specified lengths and dimensions.
• Installation of concrete headwalls with reinforcement and finishing.
• Construction of subsoil drainage (French drain) with perforated UPVC pipes, filter stones, geotextile wrapping, excavation, and backfilling.
• Installation of road furniture such as engraved kerb signs.
• Compliance with DoT standard drawings and specified gradients.
• Provision of all materials, labor, and standards required for completion.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Use of SABS-approved materials such as UPVC pipes, geotextile, and stone materials.
• Adherence to Department of Transport standard drawings and specified gradients.
• Construction of drainage structures with reinforced concrete headwalls, including reinforcement, backfilling, and finishing.
• Subsoil drainage with perforated pipes laid at a minimum 1% gradient, surrounded by specified filter stones, wrapped in geotextile fabric.
• All works must meet health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Completion of all works within an expected period of 2 months.

Skills Requirements

The contractor must demonstrate:

• Relevant experience in drainage infrastructure construction, including stone pitching, headwalls, and subsoil drainage.
• Qualified key personnel with appropriate professional qualifications and experience, supported by curricula vitae and certificates.
• Capacity to manage site safety, environmental standards, and quality control.
• Ability to coordinate with municipal structures and adhere to project timelines.
• Provision of necessary documentation such as certificates of authority, relevant experience, and bank details.
