Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to carry out the cutting of trees that are affecting structures at the Libode Magistrate Court, ensuring safety and preventing damage to the buildings and surrounding infrastructure.

Scope

The scope includes the identification, removal, and disposal of trees in close proximity to court structures, with specific attention to trees with trunks of 601mm or more, located near buildings and fences. The work involves tree felling, stump treatment, and ensuring no damage occurs to existing structures. The scope also covers preliminary site assessments, safety measures, and compliance with relevant regulations.

Technical Requirements

• Perform tree felling with extreme care, especially trees near buildings and fences.
• Use trained and certified personnel, with chain saw operators trained to at least N3 standard and arborists trained to C2 standard.
• Develop and submit a methodology for tree cutting prior to commencement.
• Provide proof of public liability insurance and Occupational Compensation (COID).
• Ensure all work complies with Occupational Health and Safety regulations (ACT 85 of 1993).
• Dispose of waste at approved dumping sites.
• Carry out stump treatment with approved chemicals immediately after stump removal.
• Carry out site inspections and submit invoices promptly.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified arborists and tree felling operators with relevant training and certification.
• Experience in tree removal near sensitive structures and in confined spaces.
• Ability to prepare and implement a safe work methodology.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and environmental disposal procedures.
• Capability to provide proof of CIDB grading of 1 SH or higher.
• Competence in project planning, site assessment, and risk management.
