Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to obtain a Load Testing Certificate for an electric chain hoist at Addington Hospital. The contractor must provide inspection, load testing, and certification to confirm that the hoist is safe for operation and compliant with statutory standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Inspection, load testing, and certification of one GEMAC Electric Chain Hoist.
• Pre-test mechanical and safety inspection, including visual checks and component assessments.
• Conducting load tests at 125% of rated capacity using calibrated equipment.
• Post-test inspection and certification, including detailed reports and photographic evidence.
• Ensuring work is performed in accordance with relevant standards and safety regulations.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993), Driven Machinery Regulations, SANS 10375, and other relevant standards.
• Full mechanical and safety inspection prior to load testing.
• Load testing at 125% of the hoist’s rated capacity with calibrated equipment.
• Provision of a valid Load Test Certificate (valid for 12 months), inspection reports, and calibration certificates.
• Use of certified lifting and testing equipment.
• Work to be conducted safely, with proper barricading and minimal disruption to hospital operations.
• Submission of safety documentation, including SHE policies, risk assessments, and competency proof.

Skills Requirements

The contractor must demonstrate:

• Approval as a registered Lifting Machinery Inspection (LMI) entity.
• Competent personnel registered under the Driven Machinery Regulations (DMR).
• Proven experience in load testing and certification of electric hoists and similar lifting equipment.
• Ability to perform thorough inspections and generate detailed reports.
• Adherence to safety standards and proper handling of testing equipment.
