Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a major service for sewerage work at Madadeni Hospital, KwaZulu-Natal. The service aims to ensure effective sewerage system maintenance, repair, and upgrading to support hospital operations and sanitation standards.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Performing comprehensive sewerage system maintenance, including preventative and reactive activities.
• Jetting and unblocking sewer lines from various hospital buildings to the main line.
• Inspection, cleaning, and servicing of water and sewer manholes, waste traps (hand wash basins, urinals, toilets), and water taps.
• Repairing flushing mechanisms, ensuring water meters are functional, and removing mud, roots, and debris from sewer lines.
• Using approved materials and equipment, including sewer cameras for line inspection.
• Adhering to safety standards and providing necessary materials, tools, and qualified personnel.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Use of SABs approved materials for all work.
• Conducting condition assessments of the entire plumbing system.
• Performing jetting, rodding, and cleaning of sewer lines and manholes.
• Repairing and maintaining flushing mechanisms, water taps, and water meters.
• Utilizing sewer cameras to check for line collapse or damage.
• Compliance with health and safety regulations and standards.
• Providing detailed inspection, maintenance, and servicing plans.
• Ensuring minimal disruption and maximum preventative maintenance ratio (preferably 80:20 preventative to reactive).

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Sufficient equipment and tools for sewer unblocking, jetting, inspection, and repair activities.
• Qualified and experienced personnel capable of executing plumbing, sewerage, and maintenance tasks.
• Proven track record of similar sewerage maintenance projects, with references available for inspection.
• Capacity to develop and implement inspection, testing, and maintenance plans.
• Adherence to health and safety standards, including proper handling of hazardous materials like caustic soda.
• Ability to work within the specified timelines and deliver quality workmanship.
