Objectives

The primary objective of this quotation is to perform an annual major service on dental and laundry equipment compressors at Eshowe Hospital. The service aims to ensure all compressors are maintained promptly, operate safely, function efficiently, and comply with applicable South African National Standards and occupational health regulations.

Scope of Work

• Servicing of two designated compressor plant rooms: one for dental equipment and one for laundry equipment.
• Cleaning of interior and exterior surfaces, accessible interior ducting, motor fan units, and air filters.
• Issuance of a formal certificate of compliance upon successful completion and payment.
• Provision of three months of preventative maintenance following the major service, including a detailed report on any identified repairs.
• Completion of all servicing activities within two weeks of receiving an official work order.
• Inclusion of a provisional sum allowance (20%) for potential after-service repairs, which must be quoted separately if approved.
• Ensuring all equipment is left operational, clean, and safe for hospital use.

Technical Requirements

• All work must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85/1993 and relevant provincial electrical and building regulations.
• Every component, part, and material used must be new, unused, and of the latest manufacturer specification. SABS/SANS-certified items are strongly preferred.
• A certificate of compliance must be issued in accordance with SANS 1850:2014.
• The contractor is responsible for all minor masonry, civil remediation, patching, and painting required to restore premises to satisfactory condition.
• Operations must be conducted with minimal disruption to ongoing hospital services, as the facility remains fully occupied.
• A minimum twelve-month guarantee period applies to all structural, mechanical, electrical work, and supplied materials.
• Bidders must hold a CIDB grading of 1ME or higher and must physically inspect the site prior to submission.
• Daily service schedules must be completed onsite, jointly signed by the attending technician and the hospital maintenance manager, and submitted to the chief artisan upon completion.

Skills and Experience Requirements

• Bidders must demonstrate verifiable experience in performing similar compressor servicing contracts for healthcare or industrial facilities.
• An execution plan detailing manpower allocation, machinery availability, and process control infrastructure must be provided.
• All work must be carried out by competent, skilled tradespeople under the direct supervision of a qualified contractor representative authorized to receive and implement instructions.
• References or documented proof of past projects of a similar nature must accompany the submission.
• Technicians must maintain accurate, real-time service logs that replace standard job cards during the contract period.
