Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a major service to fire booster pumps, including fire hydrants, at Greytown Hospital. The service aims to ensure the proper maintenance, inspection, and repair of fire safety equipment to guarantee operational readiness and compliance with safety standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Performing a major service on the fire booster pump GS 50 - 250 Ebara.
• Inspecting underground piping for leaks using specialist leak detection.
• Replacing rusted or damaged gaskets and flanges.
• Checking and servicing electrical control panels, pressure gauges, and rotating shafts.
• Monitoring water supply to fire hose reels and hydrants, ensuring proper pressure and operation.
• Servicing fire hydrants and replacing broken components.
• Inspecting and repairing water supply connections and electrical controls.
• Ensuring all work is carried out on-site at Greytown Hospital M4, with adherence to safety and quality standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Supply of labour and materials compliant with ISO 9001:2008 standards.
• Major servicing of the fire pump and associated fire hydrant piping, valves, and control systems.
• Leak detection and repair of underground piping.
• Replacement of worn or rusted gaskets, flanges, and other components.
• Inspection and servicing of electrical panels, pressure gauges, and rotating shafts.
• Monitoring and maintaining specified pressure levels (e.g., at least 600 kPa).
• Service and testing of fire hydrants to ensure water supply and pressure.
• Adherence to South African standards, including SABS approval, for all materials and work performed.
• Compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations during execution.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Technical expertise in fire pump maintenance, repair, and servicing.
• Experience with underground leak detection and repair.
• Capability to replace and service mechanical and electrical components of fire safety systems.
• Knowledge of relevant South African standards and safety regulations.
• Qualified personnel with appropriate certifications and competence in handling fire safety equipment.
• Ability to work on-site with minimal disruption to hospital operations.
• Provision of qualified leak detection specialists and technicians.
• Capacity to supply quality materials and spare parts that meet ISO and SABS standards.
