Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to service and restore the theatre’s Isolated Power Supply (Isoloc) at Appelsbosch Hospital to ensure patient safety and prevent electrocution risks during medical procedures.

Scope of Work

• Conduct a comprehensive inspection and major service of specified theatre Isoloc units and associated distribution boards.
• Troubleshoot and repair faulty circuits, restore power to three non-functional outlets, and replace burnt indicator lights.
• Perform mandatory electrical safety tests, including continuity of bonding, earth monitoring conductor resistance, and insulation resistance testing.
• Supply all necessary labour, materials, consumables, and documentation required to return the system to full operational status.
• Coordinate closely with hospital maintenance staff to execute work with minimal disruption to clinical operations.
• Deliver a Certificate of Compliance (COC), warranty documentation, and a complete technical service report upon completion.

Technical Requirements

• Compliance with SANS 10142-1 (Wiring of Premises) and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• All materials and workmanship must carry SABS approval and valid manufacturer warranties.
• Submission of a detailed company safety file, proof of previous similar public-sector projects, and a structured test schedule.
• Strict adherence to hospital safety protocols, including proper PPE usage, site cleanliness, and visitor logging.
• Work must be performed in accordance with the South African Bureau of Standards Code of Practice for Medical Electrical Installations.

Skills & Qualifications Required

• Valid Electrician Trade Test certificate.
• CIDB Grading 1EB for electrical installation works.
• Proven experience in healthcare facility electrical systems, specifically isolated power supplies and medical-grade circuitry.
• Competence in advanced electrical diagnostics, fault isolation, and statutory certification issuance.
• Strong understanding of hospital environmental controls, emergency power protocols, and infection prevention measures.
