Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure pest control services for Mfundo Arnold Lushaba Community Health Centre (CHC) and associated clinics for a duration of 24 months. The aim is to ensure effective pest management in the facility to maintain health and safety standards, comply with IPC protocols, and support the smooth operation of health services.

Scope

The scope encompasses the provision of pest control services across various departments within the Mfundo Arnold Lushaba CHC and supported clinics. This includes scheduled treatments every four weeks, emergency interventions for infestations, and specific treatments for areas such as kitchens, wards, outpatient departments, and other designated zones as detailed in the specifications. The contract covers a period of 24 months, with the possibility of renewal or extension based on performance and requirements.

Technical Requirements

• Provision of pest control treatments in accordance with the attached specifications, including size, colour, and material considerations.
• Use of SABs approved quality standards for all products and services.
• Application of low-odour poisons, rat bait stations, and other pest control products as specified.
• Adherence to safety data sheets and pesticide certificates, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Implementation of treatments at specified times to minimize disruption, e.g., after hours for certain departments.
• Provision of detailed reports and documentation of services rendered, including proof of compliance and safety standards.
• Use of environmentally safe and approved chemicals, with proper handling and storage procedures.
• Coordination with facility management to respect visiting hours and patient safety protocols.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified pest control technicians with relevant certifications and experience in health facility environments.
• Knowledge of pest management protocols, health and safety standards, and environmental regulations.
• Ability to prepare and apply pest control products safely and effectively.
• Capacity to conduct inspections, identify pest issues, and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Competence in maintaining detailed service records, reports, and compliance documentation.
• Effective communication skills for liaising with health facility staff and management.
• Understanding of the specific needs of healthcare environments, including infection control and safety considerations.
