Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to provide manual preparation of thinnings using motorised equipment, ensuring the maintenance, safety, and proper use of hand tools, chainsaws, brushcutters, and personal protective equipment (PPE). The aim is to uphold safety standards, ensure equipment reliability, and facilitate effective forestry operations.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Provision and maintenance of motorised equipment for thinning operations.
• Supply and management of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Provision of hand tools, chainsaws, and brushcutters, including their inspection, servicing, and safe operation.
• First aid box contents, usage, and management.
• Training and certification of personnel operating equipment.
• Record-keeping of inspections, servicing, training, and incidents.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• All hand tools must be maintained in good condition, safe for use, and correctly used, with regular inspections (monthly) and record-keeping.
• Only approved handles shall be used; homemade handles are prohibited.
• Tools must be used only for their intended purpose; makeshift tools are not allowed.
• Chisels and punches require regular grinding to prevent mushrooming.
• Hand tools should be kept clean, stored properly, and covered where necessary.
• Explosive-powered tools (e.g., Hilti-guns) must be registered, stored securely, and operated only by trained personnel.
• Chainsaws and brushcutters must be operated by trained and certified personnel, with regular inspections and servicing (weekly/monthly) by approved service providers.
• All equipment and tools must be properly recorded, maintained, and serviced, with records retained for specified periods.

Skills Requirements

The skills requirements for personnel include:

• Proper training and certification to operate chainsaws, brushcutters, and explosive-powered tools.
• Refresher training at intervals not exceeding 12 months.
• Ability to conduct and record inspections, servicing, and repairs.
• Knowledge of safety standards and proper handling of tools and PPE.
• Competence in first aid procedures, as indicated by familiarity with first aid box contents and usage.
